Jason C. Brewer (J Brew) is an American trumpeter who has his own style and signature sound. He is at home playing gospel, jazz, rock and R&B; everything from be-bop to hip hop. Born in E. St. Louis, IL, Brewer began playing music in the church over 40 years ago and has played across the United States and in Canada. Brewer has shared the stage with some of the greatest jazz musicians of our time such as Clark Terry, Branford Marsalis, Jimmy Heath, Bobby Watson, Terell Stafford, Steve Turre, Donald Harrison, Russell Gunn, Chris Potter, and Roy Hargrove, just to name a few. In 1994, Brewer was asked by Clint Eastwood to appear in the movie “The Bridges of Madison County” along side New Orleans great tenor saxophonist, James Rivers.
Today, Brewer plays with The B.O.C. – J Brew and the Crew, which consists of a fantastic group of musicians from Cincinnati, Oh; all of whom have the last name “Napier.” Ryan (Keys), Sherman (Drums), Robert (Bass) and vocal sensation, Roddrick Lamar (Guitar). The B.O.C. frequently features the artistry of Roddrick Lamar, which is the music for which they are most known. They all can be heard weekly at King of Kings Christian Assembly in Springfield, IL, where Brewer is the pastor. The mission of band, is to spread love and hope through their brand of Jazz music with elements of Funk, R&B, CCM, and Hip Hop. This instrumental iteration of the band has a movin’ groove with nothin’ to prove.
